Welcome reception

The welcome reception will take place in Planetarium Praha on Sunday, September 18, at 6PM. Planetarium can be reached by foot from an underground station Nádraží Holešovice on line C, but more convenient is to take a tram to station Výstaviště.

Part of the welcome reception will be also a planetarium show.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place at the Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia on Thursday, September 22, at 7:00PM. The monastery can be reached by foot from an underground station Hlavní nádraží or Florenc on line C. There is also a nearby bus station Haštalské náměstí serviced by bus no. 194 that goes from the underground station Florenc. Use the entrance to the monastery from Anežská street.

Organised tour

On Wednesday, September 21, the afternoon is reserved for organized tours. The costs of the offered tours are included in the conference fee. Upon registration, you will be asked to select a tour of your choice.

Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences

The Ondrejov Observatory has been standing on Zalov hill above the village of Ondrejov for more than a hundred years and hosts the largest astronomical institute in the Czech Republic. It deals with the observation of the Sun and other stars, interplanetary matter or high-energy objects in space. During the visit, guides will acquaint you with the circumstances of the founding of the observatory, in the historic dome you will see an exhibition dedicated to the development of the observatory and a number of interesting instruments. You will visit some of the current instruments and telescopes. The tour takes about four hours in total, two hours the visit plus the trip by bus there and back.

ELI Beamlines

ELI Beamlines is a part of the ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) pan-European project representing a unique tool of support of scientific excellence in Europe. ELI offers its scientific users a unique source of radiation and rays of accelerated particles. These beamlines enable pioneering research not only in physics and material science, but also in biomedicine and laboratory astrophysics and many other fields.
The tour takes about three hours, two hours for the visit plus the trip by bus there and back. The tour consists of a presentation about the research center, the laser technologies, and the conducted research with focus on plasma physics. Depending on the schedule of experiments, the visitors might be able to see the instrumentation from a viewing gallery and possibly directly visit the laser hall E3 where the platform for plasma physics is located.

Klementinum

Large complex of Klementinum is situated next to the Charles Bridge, right in the historical centre of Prague. Klementinum is one of the largest building complexes in Europe. Klementinum has a long and rich history that is related to development of astronomical observations in the country.
At the time of the construction of Klementinum, such astronomers as Tycho Brahe, Johannes Kepler, or Thadeus Hajek worked in Prague. The astronomical observatory was founded in Klementinum at the instigation of Joseph Stepling, its first director, in the years 1751-1752. Astronomical instruments were installed in the Astronomical tower and it became the main spot for astronomical measurements.
The guided tour takes about 50 minutes. The tour comprises the Baroque library hall - the pearl among historic libraries with beautiful fresco paintings and several rare large historic globes; Meridian hall - a unique room previously used for determining noon; Astronomical tower which is 68 meters high and presents a wonderful view of the historical center of Prague.

Prague Jewish Town Museum

Few European cities can boast a better preserved Jewish Ghetto than Prague. Six synagogues, a Jewish Town Hall, magical cemetery and the unique genius loci make Josefov in Prague a place to visit.
The guided tour through selected sites of Prague Jewish Town will take about two hours. The tour comprises the Maisel Synagogue, the Pinkas Synagogue, the Klausen Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue, the Ceremonial Hall, and the Old Jewish Cemetery.
