Brno ALMA workshop 2023

The Czech ALMA Regional Centre node is pleased to announce a workshop aimed for students and the local communities. The focus will be on introduction to ALMA, important interferometry observation parameters, interferometry data imaging, datacube analysis, overview of the ALMA Science Archive, etc. Hands-on sessions on data imaging and analysis will be included. The workshop will be held in the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University in Brno. It is open to all ALMA users and prospective ALMA users.


Venue: IT clasroom Fcom, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University, Kotlářská 267/2, Brno
Dates: May 11 (afternoon) & May 12 (afternoon), 2023
Registration deadline: 09 May 2023.

Tentative program:

Thursday - May 11, afternoon (14:00 - 18:30)

Friday - May 12, afternoon (13:00 - 17:30)

Lectures and tutorials will be given by members of the Czech ARC node.

Technical requirements:

Participants are expected to bring a laptop with the following software installed:

  1. CASA (Supported operating systems: Linux, macOS)
  2. CARTA (Supported operating systems: Linux, macOS)

In case you don't have access to a Linux or MAC laptops, please indicate it by ticking the "I need access to a linux computer" below the registration form. Installation details and possible training datasets to be downloaded will be specified by email after registration.
